Those Wonderful Moments...!

4th August is the day I probably would never ever forget in my life.

5 years ago,on 4th August 2006-I met 240 odd people coming from different parts of the country at a small town called Pollachi in Coimbatore district of Tamilnadu. It was my first visit to South India and I was naturally very enthusiastic.I had heard the natural and scenic beauty of the South India from my friends who had been there. And after being there for three weeks to come, I was not disappointed at all!

Everybody gathered over there had the same big dream in their tiny eyes-To make it Big in the IT industry.Yes! we had gathered to join for our first job and had a scheduled training for 3 weeks called the Foundation Training Program! Some wise person has said- We do not remember days; we remember moments. Those 3 weeks gave me some strong bond of friendship and wonderful moments that I would cherish throughout my life.If I be honest, those 3 weeks would be the one of the "best" days of my life.

Although I wasn't sure in my mind as to why I was there?I was about to join an IT firm despite being the fact that I was an Electronics Engineer, who had not even written a single program except for "Hello World". I then thought, what's the harm in giving luck a chance? The worst case would be they would throw me out! God has been kind enough that I am still somehow surviving after 5 years!

It was our first job and as with every first thing in life,I could see that everybody had the mixed feeling of nervousness and excitement!

Our FTP was scheduled to officially start on 7th of August, however the company asked us to report on 4th so that we can know each other well and mingle ourselves. We thoroughly enjoyed the 3 days, knowing each other and making friends with each other.

Our FTP had grueling sessions that started right from the morning till late evening. The most enjoyable part used to be the Yoga sessions in the morning and the Sunday outings for 4 hrs. Though we had a hectic session throughtout the day,yet we used to enjoy it, especially the soft skills classes. May be it was because of so many people and fun that used to happen in class and in the hostel.

I thoroughly enjoyed each and every moment of my stay over there. The hospitality was awesome and since I liked Dosas and Idlis,I relished the awesome food out there.I got to know there that rice can be of so many types!

A couple of days before the completion of our training, we had a majestic Cultural Program and see off dinner.

The day when the FTP was over and half of the batch moving to Chennai and the other half Mumbai-everyone had tears in their eyes.Such was the bond created in those 3 weeks!

5 years have passed since then and each and every moment is flashing before my eyes, making me think that it is a thing of yesterday only.I would like to wish all the best and thank each and everyone of the FTP 2006 batch for giving me such wonderful moments!A toast for all the people, moments and long 5 years in the IT industry!

Last but not the least,Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna!

Cheers!

This week,That week

I was out of action for the last couple of weeks. Again! Well this time the reason was not the lack of time but the lack of resource. I am not having my laptop with me and without that I can do nothing, even if I want to! I suppose to the momentum and passion to go ahead needs a personal laptop of mine. Probably after accumulating few bucks I shall go for an apple Mac book.

Anyway that is not the point of contention right now. Just want to highlight the major happenings that happened the last fortnight-

The Cup of glory come home-

India is the Cricket World Cup Champions again after 28 long years! It was a moment of a lifetime to witness. The victory has given the youth of my generation a story to tell to the next generation! The whole nation came to a standstill on 2nd April 2011 only to erupt in joy when MSD hit that 6! I had been waiting to witness this moment even since I have started closely following the world cup in the year 1996. We always reached the Quarter Final, Semi Final or Final-only to miss out. The victory has given the country men a moment to cherish for many years to come. The victory has also fulfilled the master’s dream to lift and kiss the cup for which he had been yearning for so long!

Post match I went to FC road to witness a scene that probably describes the madness people have for this game. There were people on the roads-dancing, shouting and waving the “tiranga”. I was shouting, screaming, shaking hands and hugging people whom probably I would meet or not again, I do not know!

If I say in one sentence-It was madness, sheer madness all around!

3 Cheers-Hip Hip Hooray!

India wins again-One man shook the system-

This is for those who thought the Gandhian principles are dead or hold no value in today’s world. It took the guts of a man, one common man to shake the system, to prove that the Gandhian principles are as strong as rock pillar. And the name of the simple common man is Anna Hazare.

He fought for the Lokpal bill and decided to go on indefinite fast till his demands were met. The nation came together again and stood by him. Finally after 4 days, government agreed to his demands. With his victory, India won again! May be the bill cannot eradicate the corruption which has penetrated deep in to our system, but am hopeful that it would at least help in reducing it to some extent. And as they say, hope keeps the world afloat. Let’s hope for the best!

God Bless!
Cheers!

A contrasting Picture

For this post, I suppose I would write only 5 lines and they would say it all-

Japan faced one of the most devastating earthquakes ever which broke the country’s infrastructure to rubbles. However it could not break their resilience and spirit. The devastated roads were built in flat 6 days and nobody could tell what the country saw 6 days back.

Now take a look at this-The road leading to my office is under construction for 4 months now!!! And I am saying 4 months because-I am seeing it for 4 months. I am not sure, how long it has been “Work in Progress”

This is just a contrasting picture and there should not be any surprises, considering the nature of people and system in respective countries! Just say-Aal izz well!

God Bless!

A Lesson in Integrity

I just saw the highlights of the India W Indies Group B match. Sachin Tendulkar’s act in that match clearly tells that why is so respectable and a great sportsman. Words always fail when you want to write about this man.

Just picture this-It’s an important world cup game and he is 1 century short of getting 100th International hundred. He plays a shot and the umpire is giving him not out for an appeal. But what the man does-he walks away, knowing that he is out! Not many have the courage to do so in an international cricket, and more over when the umpire is giving not out, whose decision is always final in the game!

I suppose it is this behavior of this man that makes him one of the greatest sports man ever.

People do not call him GOD without any reason!

Cheers!

A year gone by!

It’s been a year since I have started blogging! Wow, it sounds and feels good. My first post saw the light of the day last year on 24th March.

I must admit though, that I have not been regular in updating my blog. It started off on a great note, but the momentum got lost in between and for that I have nobody else to blame but me.

However, let bygones be bygones. I am back again in action and I really hope that I shall be more regular in updating the posts in the blog. After all, hope keeps the world afloat!

Looking forward for an exciting year of blogging!

God Bless!
Cheers!

The Cup of Joy!

Cricket World Cup-biggest event of the year 2011 has entered into its knock out stage.Today was the first quarter final and Pakistan have beaten West Indies comprehensively.

For a country like India where cricket is a religion, there could no better reason to be happy that the country is the co-host of the event.Being a cricket frenzy,I am as usual following the cup with all zeal, even though our team is not up to the mark.

Last time when the cup was held at the subcontinent, in the year 1996, I was a student of class 6.Yes class 6!I was a 12 year old lad and like every other child in the country, followed the cup with immeasurable enthusiasm. The best part those days was we used to play cricket in the evening as well. So it was cricket and only cricket all around!

I distinctly remember that we used to rush home from school to catch the match in action. Cricket was the only topic to discuss! And in Cricket most of the talks used to revolve around the God-Sachin Tendulkar. I suppose there are many things that have changed in 15 years from 1996 to 2011, but perhaps, one thing that would never change is that Sachin is my cricket God!

He was rising to glory match after match, and we were sure that he would single handedly bring the cup home. History was on the cards after the emphatic win in 1983. Fate however had other plans and we again proved that no matter how hard he works, we let him down. India were out of contention in semi-finals with their infamous loss to Srilanka at Eden Gardens.Srilanka eventually went on to win the cup, beating Australia in the finals.

We are again at the same threshold. Sachin is again rising to glory, but the team is not backing him enough! The cup of joy or rather the cup of glory is 3 matches away and I hope our team gives their best shot to win it. This would be the best gift for the man who has given each and everything for the sport and the country continuously for 22 years!

Go India Go...

God Bless!
Cheers!

Happy Holi...Lets Paint Red!

Yesterday was the festival of colors and needless to say Holi is one of those festivals which is celebrated with full zeal and enthusiasm in our country. The intesity of celebration, however, may vary from place to place.

I am hereby sharing a poem that I wrote couple of years back when I was in Mumbai-

Let’s Paint Red…

Come this Holi and in our Life,

Let’s Paint Red,

To all human beings, forgetting all the boundaries,

Come Lets paint Red,

Not by applying colors, but,

By applying thoughts,

Come Lets Paint Red,

The color of a feeling..

The color of Love

Lets forget all the bitterness in us, and,

Turn it in to sweetness ,

Lets forget all the animosity in us, and,

Turn it in to Friendship,

Lets kill the evilness in us and,

Turn it in to Godliness,

Lets shatter the ego in us,

And Change I to WE

Come Lets Paint Red…

Lets believe we are all equal children of God,

Lets embrace all the human beings,

Lets spread hope and enthusiasm,

Lets spread happiness and smiles,

Lets spread Kindness and Politeness,

Lets put wings to the thoughts, and let them fly,

Across the peripheries,

In the endless Sky,

Lets Do not say NO, say, We will try,

Come Lets Paint Red,

The color of a feeling..

The color of Love,

To ONE and ALL..

God Bless!
Cheers!
